I watched "The Wire" 15 years ago and still think it is better than "Breaking Bad"
I was living in Chicago back in 2009 when I first binged The Wire on DVD from the library. Every character felt real, not just a plot device, and the city itself was a main character. Breaking Bad gets all the hype now but I think it leans too hard on shock value. Has anyone else found a newer show that matches that kind of grounded storytelling from The Wire?

Watched The Wire during a brutal Chicago winter myself, pretty sure I froze the remote to my hand. That show made me feel like I was just eavesdropping on real people's lives, not watching actors. Breaking Bad is a great roller coaster ride, but it's more about the thrills than the streets, you know? Still looking for something that hits that same grounded note, but everything else feels polished and fake by comparison.

Man that's exactly how I felt watching The Wire. For me it was the way they showed both sides of the drug game without making anyone a cartoon villain.
