I put off watching 'Severance' for a full year because the premise sounded too weird.
My friend in Portland kept telling me to watch it, so I finally started it last weekend. I got through the whole first season in two days because I just had to know what was happening next. The way they show the two separate lives is so simple but it gets under your skin. Has anyone else had a show they thought they'd hate but ended up loving?

That premise is exactly what hooked me from the first trailer. The weirdness is the whole point. I was sold on the concept of a work-life balance taken to a literal, creepy extreme before the first episode even dropped.

Honestly, the weirdness just felt like a gimmick to me after a while. The show kept introducing strange rules but never made me care about the people following them. It was all style, no heart, you know? I wanted to feel the creepiness, not just see it.

Man, my buddy Dave was the same way with 'The Good Place'. He saw the ads and thought it looked like a dumb sitcom about heaven. I finally got him to watch the first episode last summer. He called me halfway through, totally confused but laughing. By the time the big twist at the end of season one hit, he was texting me in all caps. He binged the whole thing in a week and now it's his favorite show. He said he was a total idiot for almost missing it.
