PSA: I tried a new carbon paste on a customer's seatpost and it seized solid in under a week

Remember reading a forum post years ago where a guy used some weird homemade paste on his titanium stem. It basically welded itself to the steerer tube overnight. He ended up having to cut the whole thing apart with a dremel. Makes you wonder what's actually in some of these products, like if they're just repackaged industrial threadlocker or something. I stick to the basic anti-seize grease now, the kind with copper in it. Never had a single issue, even on bikes that sit all winter.

Welded itself overnight" is the kind of horror story that makes me side-eye my own garage tinkering. I once used what was basically fancy toothpaste on a seatpost because the tube said "assembly compound" and I was out of the real stuff. Took me and a neighbor an entire afternoon to get it unstuck, so maybe I'm not the best person to judge these things.

Copper anti-seize is all you need, @zara572.
