Overheard a customer at the coffee shop say 'anyone can fix a bike with a YouTube video'

This guy was telling his friend he saved $80 on a brake bleed by just watching a tutorial. I get the DIY spirit, but he didn't mention the special mineral oil he spilled everywhere or the lever he over-tightened and nearly stripped. It made me think we're not just selling a service, we're selling the right tools and the experience to not make a simple job a costly mess. How do you guys explain the value of a professional job to customers who think it's all just turning wrenches?

Ever wonder how much that YouTube repair actually costs after you mess it up?

Consider the learning you get from trying it yourself. That knowledge has real value for future fixes. Sometimes the mess is just part of the process.

Oh man, that's the perfect example. People always forget the hidden costs, like buying the special tool you use once. A pro has that tool, and the feel for exactly how tight is tight enough. That experience stops a simple brake bleed from turning into a new lever and a big cleanup.
