Just realized how many watts a pro sprinter actually puts out

Read a study from a university in Belgium that measured peak power over 2,000 watts for a single pedal stroke. Makes my customer's creaky bottom bracket seem a lot less surprising now, you know?

Wow, that's insane but it makes total sense. We're always pushing materials way harder than we realize in normal life. No wonder stuff breaks down faster than the specs suggest.

Man, that's wild. I saw a video once where they had a track sprinter on a special bike hooked up to all these sensors. The force he was putting through the cranks actually bent the chainring, like visibly warped it. I mean, we're talking about a solid piece of metal here. It really puts into perspective how much punishment pro gear has to take, way beyond what any normal person would ever do. Makes you wonder how anything survives more than a few races.
