I blew $180 on a bike repair stand I never use, and I want to warn other mechanics
I run a small shop out of my garage in Portland, and 3 months ago I bought a fancy clamp style repair stand because a guy on YouTube said it would save my back. I bolted it to my bench, used it maybe 4 times, and then went right back to hanging frames from my ceiling hook like I have done for 12 years. The clamp squeezes the seat tube on older steel frames, and I nearly crushed a customer's top tube when the arm slipped. If you are just doing tune ups and brake bleeds, save your money and get a cheap wheel truing stand instead.
