Had a customer bring in a bike with a chain made of paperclips

This guy in a suit walked into my shop last Tuesday with a vintage Schwinn, said he 'needed a quick fix for a meeting across town'. The chain was literally just a bunch of linked-together office paperclips, and he was genuinely confused why it kept snapping. What's the most bizarre 'repair' material you've ever seen someone try to use?
