Everyone swears by Park Tool spoke wrenches, but a $12 no-name one saved my wheel build last month
Last month I was building a rear wheel for a customer in Sacramento and my Park Tool spoke wrench slipped on a brass nipple, rounding it off on the third turn. I grabbed a cheap $12 wrench from a swap meet that had a tighter fit and finished the whole wheel without another slip, which made me wonder why we all default to the big brand. Am I the only one who thinks the fit matters way more than the name stamped on the tool?
