Chasing a ghost creak for 5 hours, turned out to be the pedal dust cap
Spent a full Tuesday afternoon in Portland tearing down my bottom bracket, cranks, and chainrings on a customer's bike before I spotted a hairline crack inside the pedal dust cap that was barely visible, so has anyone else had a noise that drove them nuts only to find it was something dumb and tiny?
