Can we talk about how I spent 2 hours chasing a creak that was my seatpost the whole time
Last month a bike came into the shop with a creak the owner swore was coming from the bottom bracket, so I pulled the crank, greased everything, and torqued it back down at 40 Nm. Still creaked. I checked the chainring bolts, the pedals, even swapped the rear wheel, and then my coworker Dave walked over and just twisted the seatpost by hand. The sound was identical. I had been test riding the bike standing up the whole time, so I never heard it from the saddle. Now I always check the saddle and post first. What is the dumbest thing you have torn apart before checking the easy stuff?
