Bought a $130 disc brake bleed kit and still paid a shop $60 to fix it
I thought the kit would save me money but I made a mess in my driveway and the lever still went to the bar. The shop guy said my bleed port adapter was cross threaded and stripped. Has anyone else just given up and let the pros do hydraulic work?
Cross threading that adapter is the real killer, once those threads are gone the whole caliper is pretty much toast. Same thing happened to me on a set of Shimano brakes and I ended up buying a new caliper anyway, so the kit saved nothing. At some point you just eat the $60 and let the shop deal with the mess.
