Showerthought: People keep calling any old lace curtain "vintage" when it's just 1990s garage sale stuff
Went to an estate sale last month over on Elm Street and a lady was calling some polyester curtains from 1994 "mid-century vintage." Look, I grew up in the 90s, those are just old curtains from Kmart. My mom had the same ones in our kitchen until 2003. Has anyone else noticed this shift where everything older than like 10 years gets labeled vintage now?

Kmart polyester from 94 is not mid-century anything that's wild.

@taylor_young that's like calling a rusty pinto a muscle car.

Just try popping a vintage tag on it and see if it holds up. Some of that 90s stuff gets lumped in with mid-century if it's got the right silhouette or fabric, but polyester is a dead giveaway. Check the seams and zippers too - real mid-century usually has metal ones, not plastic. I've made that mistake before and ended up feeling like a poser at the flea market.
