Sat through a 2 hour HOA meeting last night and almost asked the board president if he actually reads the bylaws he keeps quoting

The man cited a parking restriction from page 43 of a 90 page document, but nobody on the board could tell me when the last time they updated the landscaping rules was. Has anyone else had a board member who just picks one rule and runs with it like a personal mission?

My mom used to be on our HOA board and I always thought she was just being thorough with the rules... but after sitting through a few meetings myself I totally get it now. One guy spent 20 minutes arguing about the exact shade of white for garage doors while we had abandoned cars parked on the lawn for weeks.

Oh honey, I feel your pain. I sat through a meeting last spring where a woman spent a full half hour debating whether someone's mailbox needed to be repainted because the current color was "too close" to the approved shade but not exactly matching. Meanwhile, the house two doors down had a broken window that had been boarded up for going on six months. It's exhausting how people get so hung up on the silly little things while the real problems just sit there. You really do appreciate what your mom went through once you see it for yourself.
