Guy at the hardware store made me rethink my spray foam plan
I was loading up on cans of Great Stuff for sealing gaps in my attic, maybe 8 or 9 of them. Old dude in the aisle just goes 'you know that stuff offgasses for weeks if you use too much'. I almost said 'mind your business' but stopped myself. He was right though, I looked it up later and yeah, thick layers trap moisture and can rot wood. So now I'm using backer rod and caulk for bigger gaps. Has anyone else had a stranger give them advice that actually saved a project?

Honestly wonder how much of that is just scare tactics from old-timers who think every new product is poison lol. Used Great Stuff in my last place and never had any rot issues.

Haven't heard anyone talk about the mice yet though - they love chewing through spray foam and can squeeze right through it?
