Dropped $180 on a "beginner" sourdough kit and the starter died in 4 days
Bought the whole setup from a little shop in Sacramento last month: jar, scale, proofing baskets, the works. The starter grew mold by day 4 and the flour they sold me was $12 a bag, which is just wild. Now the baskets sit in my closet and I feel dumb every time I open that door. Did anyone else buy a starter kit and just end up using a plain mason jar and cheap flour instead?
