Debate: Is it better to tell someone their fly is down or just let them figure it out?

I saw a guy at the grocery store yesterday with his fly down and I almost said something but stopped because I didn't want to embarrass him. On the other hand, I've been that person walking around for an hour with my fly open and wished someone had just told me. Where do you draw the line between being helpful and being rude?

Friend had his fly down for a whole job interview once. Tell them.

Did he ever find out during the interview or was it one of those things he realized after? Like did someone tell him or did he just happen to look down and see it? Because honestly the longer it went on the worse it would feel to realize it.
