Almost told my neighbor her new haircut looked like a helmet from the 80s

We were at the mailbox last Tuesday and she was so proud of it, kept flipping it and smiling. I had the words right on my tongue. Just nodded and said it was "really bold." She asked if I liked it and I changed the subject to her dog. Has anyone else had to fake it over a haircut that was just bad?

Did you ever bring up the 80s helmet look later as a joke to test if she was self conscious about it? Sometimes I wonder if people genuinely cant see what's on their own head or if they just dont care. My sister in law got a perm last year that made her look like a startled sheep and she wore it for six months before someone finally told her.

yeah honestly I feel like people are way too hung up on other people's hair choices. like who cares if someone had a weird perm or an outdated cut, it's just hair. it grows back. I've had some truly questionable looks over the years and I never needed anyone to "save" me from them lol. the whole thing about testing if she's self conscious sounds kinda mean honestly, like you're just waiting for her to admit she looked bad. maybe she just liked it and that's fine too.
