Almost told a buddy his whole flooring approach was backwards
My friend was laying vinyl plank in his kitchen and spent 2 hours measuring each row perfectly. I was biting my tongue so hard because I know from doing my own place that you just snap the first row tight to the wall and cut the last row to fit. He ended up with gaps at the baseboards anyway and had to redo half of it. Is there a method people swear by that actually wastes more time than it saves?

Yeah that "measure each row perfectly" thing is a trap. I've redone enough floors to know you just need the first row straight and everything else follows. Took me three tries on my first kitchen before I learned that lesson.

Funny how that rule applies to so many things, not just floors. Like cooking - you dont need to measure every spice perfectly, just get the first few right and taste as you go. Same with painting a room, cut in the edges clean and the roller work fills itself in. People overthink the small stuff and miss the big picture.
