Almost called out the guy at the DMV who spent 15 minutes arguing about his expired tags

I waited 45 minutes behind him at the Springfield office last Thursday. Has anyone else noticed how the workers there just let people argue forever without cutting them off?

The workers there aren't really allowed to cut people off right away, there's a whole procedure they have to follow. Actually I think the DMV in Springfield has a rule where they have to let people say their piece for at least a full minute before they can step in, something about avoiding lawsuits. The expired tags guy probably knew that was the rule and was using it to his advantage, dragging things out so he could get his way. But you're right that it feels like they just zone out and let people ramble forever, like they've learned to tune out the noise and wait it out. Next time you're there, try bringing a coffee and a good podcast, it's the only way to survive that place.

Did they really let him argue for that long without doing anything about it? Last time I was at the DMV, a lady was screaming about her photo being unflattering and they just sat there staring at their screens like they were waiting for a bus. I feel like they could cut people off a lot sooner so the rest of us don't have to suffer.
