Unpopular opinion: a plain hot dog from a gas station beat my $140 steakhouse ribeye as a last meal
My brother dragged me to this fancy steakhouse in Kansas City for his birthday, and I got the $140 dry aged ribeye with truffle butter and all that. It was fine, but halfway through I kept thinking about the $2.79 hot dog I grabbed at a gas station outside Topeka a week before. That thing was on the roller for maybe 6 hours, the bun was steamed soft, and I put way too much yellow mustard on it. Something about how simple and greasy it was hit harder than the fancy plate ever did. For my last bite I want that gas station dog, no question, not some 40 dollar piece of beef with a sauce I can't pronounce. Am I crazy or does anybody else have a cheap thing that beats the expensive version?
