The fancy grilled cheese I ordered tasted like regret, $18 in Portland
I spent my final meal budget on this overhyped place downtown, and the bread was so burnt I could taste it for days. I could've just made my own with a $4 loaf and some cheddar from Safeway. Why do we romanticize places that just toast bread with extra steps, has anyone else been burned by a trendy spot?

Paid $18 for burnt toast once too, so you're in good company. My go to move now is just sitting at home with a sad grilled cheese and pretending I saved money. Trendy spots love charging us for the vibe and forgetting the cheese.
