Ordered gas station nachos at 2am in El Paso, and the 7-Eleven version beat the fancy truck every time
Two buddies and I did a taste test on a road trip, hitting the nacho truck outside a bar on Montana Ave and then the roller grill at the 7-Eleven down the block. The truck charged $11 and gave me cold cheese and stale chips, while the $4 gas station tray came out hot with that fake orange cheese that just works. If I get a last bite, I am honestly picking the sad gas station version, which my friends will never let me live down. What is the worst sounding food you would still pick over the fancy version?
That orange cheese from a pump is engineered to taste good at any hour, so of course it beat a truck that couldn't even warm the stuff up. Give me a plain bean burrito from a 24 hour drive thru over any $18 plate at a place with a waitlist.
