Just realized how much rub you waste with a shaker bottle

I was watching a Myron Mixon video the other day and he mentioned how much rub gets left in the bottom of those standard shaker bottles... like a good 20-30% of what you buy. I never really thought about it until I dumped out an old bottle of Killer Hogs that had a solid quarter cup of spice stuck in there. So I started doing it his way, just grabbing a handful and sprinkling it on by feel. It's messy for sure but I use way less rub now and every bit ends up on the meat instead of the trash. Anyone else switch to hand sprinkling and notice the same thing?

Not gonna lie @rubyschmidt, my first attempt looked like a toddler went crazy with a spice jar, but you get a feel for it after a couple racks.

Totally agree. I switched after watching him too and never looked back.

That "going by feel" part sounds messy, how do you even keep it even without a shaker?
