Update: a guy in the stall next to me in Portland said the worst part of a restroom is the door, and now I can't stop noticing
I was in a gas station off I-5 near Portland and the guy in the next stall just said out loud, to nobody, that he can deal with bad soap and loud dryers but a heavy door with a broken latch is where he draws the line. I laughed at first, but then I stood there fighting that same door for like 20 seconds while balancing my bag. It swings shut on its own and there's no hook anywhere, so your stuff goes on the wet floor or in your teeth. Now I clock every restroom door I walk through and most of them are terrible. What's the one thing that ruins a public restroom for you, because for me it's officially the door?
Wait, he just said that out loud to nobody in a gas station bathroom? That is wild. I guess the dude had been holding that opinion in for years and the stall finally broke him. And yeah, he is right. A bad door is the whole thing. If I have to choose between a gross seat or a door that will not stay shut, I am picking the gross seat every time. I hate the ones that swing open on their own so you are basically giving a show to whoever walks in.
