Rant: My lemon meringue pie turned into lemon soup at a family dinner last Saturday

I was at my sister's place in Portland for her birthday party, and I brought what I thought was a perfect lemon meringue pie. Pulled it out of the box and it was all liquid underneath, the meringue just floating on top like a sad little island. Turns out I didn't let the lemon curd cool down enough before I put the meringue on, so it just dissolved into the filling. Had to scoop it into bowls and call it "deconstructed pie" to save face. Has anyone else had a dessert completely fall apart at the worst possible moment?

Honestly, you gotta admit that calling it "deconstructed pie" is actually a pretty great save though. Ngl, a little lemon soup situation sounds like it could be kind of good if you lean into it with some whipped cream. Maybe your pie just wanted to be a pudding instead.
