Paid $60 for a silpat mat and it saved my third batch of macarons

I kept burning the bottoms of my macarons no matter what I did with parchment paper. Finally dropped money on a real silpat mat and the feet came out perfect on the first try. No more peeling paper off failed shells or dealing with uneven heat. Has anyone else found a specific tool that fixed a recurring baking problem?

Did your friend end up going through a whole box of eggs before they admitted the silpat was worth it?
