My cake layers slid apart right before the party.
Buttercream was too soft in the Florida heat. I stuck the whole thing in the freezer for 15 minutes and it held. Anyone have a better frosting for humid days?

Oh GREAT, another thing I gotta learn how to make just so my cake doesn't melt into a puddle by the pool. At this point I'm just gonna frost my cakes with cream cheese and hope for the best.

Florida is basically the final boss for buttercream... your freezer save was clutch. I've heard Swiss meringue buttercream holds up better in the heat. Might be worth a shot for the next cake emergency.

You said Swiss meringue holds up better, and I've heard that too. But is it actually a real difference in like, 95 degree heat with crazy humidity, or is it just a little bit better? I'm trying to figure out if learning a whole new frosting is worth the hassle.
