Burned a batch of sourdough loaves at the farmers market demo

Went to the farmers market last Saturday to show how I make my starter. Forgot to set my timer and pulled 8 loaves of charcoal out of the portable oven. Anyone else ruined a whole batch in front of a crowd?

Oh man, I gotta disagree a little bit here. I think baking in front of people is actually the best way to learn, even when it goes wrong. Those 8 loaves of charcoal taught you way more about heat control and timing than any perfect batch at home ever could. Plus the crowd probably got a good laugh and a lesson on what NOT to do. Did anyone actually taste one or just give you a hard time?

Wait actually I think it was 9 loaves not 8. I was standing pretty close to the front and counted them as they came out. And yeah nobody actually tasted them, someone tried to break one open and it literally shattered like glass. But you're right about the learning part, I just wanted to correct the number since I was there. Those first few were definitely more about timing than anything else.

Guess you changed my mind on that one, saw it different before.
