Swapped my mixer paddles after a convo with my aunt and now my cookies come out totally different

Ive been making chocolate chip cookies for like 15 years and always thought the flat paddle was fine. Then my aunt who used to run a bakery in Cleveland came to visit last month and watched me creaming butter and sugar. She goes 'whens the last time you scraped your bowl mid mix?' I told her I never do that. She pulled out her phone and showed me a picture of the flex edge paddle with the rubber scraper on one side. I laughed it off but bought one at Target the next day. Now I get way more even mixing and my cookies actually hold their shape better. Has anyone else had a random tool swap change their whole baking game like this?

Did it ever make you wonder how many other little tweaks we just assume don't matter since we've always done it one way? It's crazy how one small change in a tool or habit can flip everything you thought you knew.

I don't know, I think sometimes a small change is just a small change. You can drive yourself crazy looking for hidden meaning in every little thing we do.
