Shoutout to the bakery supply store on 5th street...
Stopped by G&R Supply last Tuesday for a new dough scraper and ended up finding a 12-quart mixing bowl for $18 marked down from $65. Has anyone ever lucked into something random there that actually worked better than the fancy stuff?

Respectfully, I see it the opposite way lol. Those clearance deals at bakery supply places are almost always old stock that got marked down for a reason. A 12-quart bowl for $18 sounds great until you realize it's probably a thin gauge aluminum that'll warp after a few trips through the dishwasher. I've grabbed random stuff from places like that before and ended up replacing it within a year because the fit and finish just wasn't there. Fancy stuff from restaurant supply chains might cost more but at least it holds up to daily abuse without cracking or bending. Not saying every deal is junk, but I'd rather spend once on something that'll last a decade than save $47 now and buy two more bowls later.

Wait, you've had bowls warp from the DISHWASHER?

Felix has a point about gauge thickness. That thin aluminum stuff bends if you look at it wrong, and the coating always flakes off way too fast.
