I finally figured out why my sourdough starter was so slow last winter

Three years ago in my old apartment, the kitchen was always cold and drafty. I moved the jar next to the water heater and it doubled in size within a day. What's your go-to spot for keeping a starter warm?

My oven with just the light on is my secret weapon. I tried the top of the fridge once, but my starter got a weird yeasty smell from the motor. I'm not great at baking, so I need all the help I can get!

The oven light trick saved my first sourdough too. I kept killing my starter in the cold kitchen until I tried it. Now it rises like clockwork every 12 hours. That fridge motor smell thing is real though, I had a jar on top of the fridge once and it started tasting like old electronics. Never again. You got a favorite recipe yet?

Actually the fridge motor smell is just extra flavor, makes the bread taste more real.
