Honestly, I dropped $80 on a fancy 'artisan' bread scoring kit last month
Tbh, my old lame and a razor blade worked just as well, and the kit's weird angles made my loaves look worse. Anyone got a better use for these weird little blades, or should I just toss them?

Those weird blades are perfect for detailed craft stuff, like cutting intricate shapes in thin leather or paper. Honestly, they'd probably work better for that than for scoring bread lol. Might as well get some use out of them before they get tossed.

My sister tried using one of those blades on a sourdough loaf last year and it looked like a toddler attacked it with a safety scissors. The crust just sort of tore. But you're totally right, they're basically tiny craft knives. I keep one in my toolbox for trimming gasket material and it works way better than an x-acto. It's funny how the wrong tool for one job is perfect for another. They should just sell these in the art supply aisle instead.

Remember my buddy who tried using one to open a stubborn package? Put a slice right through a limited edition vinyl he had inside. Maybe keep them away from anything you care about.
