Vent: My $400 privacy fence got tagged by the neighbor's high school kid

Back in 2019 I put up a cedar fence along my property line in Austin, cost me about $400 in materials plus a weekend of labor. Last month the teenager next door spray painted his initials on three panels while I was at work, and his dad just shrugged and said kids will be kids. I tried pressure washing it off with a mix I found online, but it's stained bad in the sunlight now. Anyone else dealt with graffiti damage and actually got the neighbor to pay for repairs?

Man that really sucks, I feel for you. You put in the sweat equity and materials only to have some kid wreck it and the dad act like it's no big deal. I'd be pushing hard for at least the cost of the panels and maybe see if the kid can help you replace them, that's how they learn.
