PSA: My neighbor's floodlights were harshing my vibe until I tried this one trick

Last spring my new neighbor installed these massive LED floodlights that pointed right into my bedroom window. I tried talking to him twice but he said they were for 'security.' After 3 months of sleeping with a sleep mask I finally bought some blackout film for like $15 at Lowe's. Took 10 minutes to put up and now my room is pitch black at night. Has anyone else had luck with that stuff or do you have better ideas for dealing with light trespass?

Get some of that blackout film for your windows too (the static cling kind is way easier to put up than the sticky stuff). It seriously made the biggest difference for me when my neighbor's lights were blasting into my living room.

60% of the reason I tried that reflective film route was just so I could have an excuse to buy one of those giant novelty mirrors from the thrift store, not gonna lie.

Oh man, that's wild! I actually had a similar problem and found a way cheaper fix. @zarar67 is spot on about the static cling film, but here's something I haven't seen anyone mention: try pointing a small mirror outside the window at night. I propped a cheap one up on my windowsill angled so it reflects the light back toward the neighbor's yard. It doesn't block all the light but it makes them think twice about leaving it on all night because now it's hitting their own house too. Plus you still get some natural light during the day since you can just take it down. My neighbor actually came over and asked if I could stop doing it because it was bothering their dog. We ended up compromising and they aimed their lights lower. Sometimes you gotta fight fire with fire you know?
