My sister said letting my neighbor's dog dig under our fence is 'just being nice'

She argued it's only a few holes in the yard, but I think it sets a bad precedent for property lines. Where do you draw the line between being neighborly and letting someone walk all over you?

That "bad precedent for property lines" part really hits home. I used to let my neighbor's kids cut through my yard as a shortcut. It seemed harmless until they started leaving the gate open and my dog got out twice. Being nice turned into a safety problem real fast. Now I see clear lines aren't mean, they just keep things from getting messy.

Oh man, exactly! I let the guy next door store his canoe in my side yard for "a week." Two summers later, I'm tripping over his stuff every time I need to get to the hose. You give an inch and they take a mile, right? Setting that line early saves so much trouble.

Yeah, but @the_rose had a real safety issue, not just stuff.
