I heard my neighbor Gary tell his buddy his trick for quieting a barking dog
He said he keeps a cheap plastic spray bottle filled with plain water by the back door. When his dog starts barking at the fence line, he gives it a quick squirt in the face, not to hurt it, just to surprise it and break its focus. He told him it worked better than yelling in about a week. Has anyone else tried something like this with a noisy pet next door?

My old lab mix hated the spray bottle trick, but a loud shake can full of coins worked every time.

Wait, he sprays his neighbor's dog? That's crossing a line. You don't mess with someone else's pet, full stop. If my neighbor tried that, we'd have a real problem. It's one thing to train your own dog, but squirting a dog over the fence is asking for trouble.
