I actually appreciate my neighbor's overly bright porch light

All the other houses on the block grumble about it shining into their windows at night. For me, it lights up my driveway perfectly when I get back from late jobs, so I never trip on the curb. We traded a simple wave for him keeping it on, and now I feel safer. Everyone says to demand he dims it, but a little light seems better than a dark argument.

My buddy's neighbor had one of those motion sensor floods. He said it kept going off when raccoons got into the trash, but it also lit up his whole yard when he took the dog out late. He never asked them to change it.

Raccoons tipping over trash cans probably trigger that light more than anything else (which, let's be honest, is pretty often). It's like a free security system for nighttime dog walks, even if it blinds you half the time. Your buddy's neighbor must enjoy the unintended light show, since he never complained. I bet the dog gets confused, thinking it's daytime at midnight. Honestly, if I were him, I'd just embrace the raccoon theater and bring popcorn.

Ever think those lights were just a pain? This post shows a good side I never saw.
