Had to choose between calling the cops or confronting my neighbor about his 3 AM drumming sessions

I picked confronting him after 4 sleepless nights last week, and now he just glares at me over the fence every time I take out the trash.

Man you went straight to the confrontation route without even trying a note first? That was always gonna end bad. Sliding a polite note under his door saying "hey your drums are shaking my walls at 3am" gives him a chance to save face and fix it. Instead you walked over there hot and now he's got his guard up forever. Could have written that note, waited a few days, and if nothing changed then you escalate. Now you got a neighbor who's gonna find little ways to make your life annoying for the next year.

Had a friend try the note route once. Dude wrote back "play louder" in crayon.
