3 years of barking later, I finally bought the neighbor's dog a toy
Last week after the 3am barking marathon, I marched over with a $12 squeaky bone instead of another complaint note. The neighbor came out and we actually talked for 10 minutes, turns out the dog hates being left alone while he works nights. Now I toss the toy over the fence each evening and the barking has dropped maybe half, has anyone else tried befriending the animal instead of fighting the owner?

ngl i always rolled my eyes at the "just make friends with the dog" advice, thought it was total nonsense. but a $12 toy fixing half the problem is kinda wild. might have to try this on my neighbor's yapper.
