Frozen garlic cubes beat fresh for weeknight stir fry
I was always a fresh garlic snob, thought the pre-minced jars tasted flat. Last month I got tired of peeling cloves at 7pm after work, so I bought a tray of frozen garlic cubes at the Aldi on Highland Ave. Pop one in the pan with oil and it melts exactly like fresh, no chopping board mess. The texture is fine, flavor is actually pretty close, and cleanup took maybe 30 seconds. Now I keep two trays in the freezer, one for garlic and one for ginger. Has anyone else switched to frozen aromatics, or am I just lazy in a way that works?
Garlic peeling at 7pm is a whole personality test, and mine failed years ago. Frozen cubes are the cheat code nobody talks about, like having a tiny sous chef who never talks back. Now if they'd just make a frozen version of remembering to thaw the chicken, I'd be set.
