That 'handmade' gift from my aunt turned out to be a real disaster

My aunt swore she made this wooden jewelry box herself for my birthday, but I found the same one on Amazon for $12.99 with a sticker still on the bottom. The weird part was she crossed out the 'Made in China' label with a Sharpie and added a fake 'handcrafted by Mary' stamp. Has anyone else gotten a gift where someone clearly lied about making it themselves?

So did you call her out on it or just smile and put it on the shelf? I had a coworker pull something similar with a "homemade" scarf that still had the store tag tucked inside. Makes you wonder if she thought you'd never notice the sticker or just figured you wouldn't say anything.

Yeah but think about it from another angle. Maybe she actually bought it thinking it was handmade, you know? Like some people are so disconnected from how things are made they genuinely don't know the difference between something from a craft store and something off a shelf. The sticker could have been from the kit she bought and she just... forgot it was there.
