I used to think waiting 3 days to text back was smart, now I think it's the dumbest advice ever
I always followed that old rule about waiting three days to text after a first date because I thought it made me look busy and in demand. Last Tuesday I went out with this girl named Dana to a taco spot in Austin and we clicked hard, like laughing at dumb stuff and sharing a plate of al pastor. I waited the full three days and when I finally texted she said she figured I wasn't interested because she'd already gone out with someone else that weekend. I was kicking myself because I genuinely liked her and I lost my shot over some game I read in a magazine when I was 19. Now I text within a few hours if I had a good time and it just feels way more honest. My buddy still swears by the three day thing and calls me desperate, but I'd rather look eager and get a second date than play cool and sit at home. Has anyone else ditched the waiting rule and seen better results, or am I just being naive?
Man, that rule exists for a reason, chicks dig a guy who's got stuff going on and texting in two hours screams you were waiting by the phone. Your buddy's not wrong, she probably would've flaked on you either way if one weekend was all it took.
