TIL the Pacific Crest Trail goes through like 25 major wildfire zones and I had no idea until I read the USFS maps last night
Found a PDF from the Forest Service that breaks down every burn area by mile marker and honestly it made me rethink my whole plan for next summer has anyone else run into unexpected fire closures on a thru-hike?

Did you check the fire history for the last five years? It really hits home when you see how close some of these fires have gotten to where people actually live.
