The day I trusted a stranger's water cache note and it saved my trip

I was hiking the Superior Hiking Trail near Gooseberry Falls last June and my filter clogged up bad on day three. A note taped to a trail marker said there was a gallon jug hung 50 feet off the path at mile 42, and I figured why not. Found it right where they said, with a fresh filter cartridge inside too. Has anyone else come across random trail angel caches that actually worked out better than planned?

That note about the filter cartridge is wild. I've found water caches before but never with spare gear in them. Last year on the PCT someone left a full first aid kit at a dry camp and it saved my buddy's blistered feet. Trail angels are honestly the best part of hiking sometimes.
