That $40 water filter I scoffed at on the PCT in 2019
Back then I was all about boiling creek water until a friend in Bishop swore by this little squeeze filter, so I finally caved and bought one for a two week stretch. It clogged on day three after some silty runoff near Red Meadows and I had to backflush it every few hours, which about killed my pace but kept me from carrying a stove. Anyone else ditched the old school methods and wish they'd just stuck with them?

That clogging sounds more like the water was super dirty, not a filter flaw. Even so, squeezing through a silty creek is a rough test for any filter, and boiling would've handled it way easier.
