I used to think the PCT was overhyped until I hit the Sierra section
Everyone raves about the Pacific Crest Trail and I figured it was just Instagram hype... but last summer I did a 50-mile stretch from Tuolumne Meadows to Reds Meadow and the granite basins were unreal. Has anyone else changed their mind after actually hiking a part they doubted?

Oh man, that stretch from Tuolumne to Reds Meadow is legit. Did you hit any of the side trails off the JMT back there or did you stick straight on the PCT the whole way?

Wait, you skipped the side trails? No Cathedral Lakes or Donohue Pass cutoff? I'm genuinely shocked you didn't hit at least one, those are some of the best views on the whole route.

Stick to the PCT most of the way, honestly. I get why people love those side trips but the main trail already gives you insane views and I'd rather keep moving than add extra miles just for a slightly different angle on the same granite. Sometimes less is more, you know?
