I finally looked up the actual mileage for the John Muir Trail

I found out it's 211 miles, not the 'roughly 200' everyone says, which makes planning food drops a lot different. Has anyone else had to adjust their resupply because of a small stat like that?

Oh man, that extra 11 miles is no joke! It's crazy how a small number can totally throw off your food math. That's the difference between a hungry last day and a comfortable finish. Always better to find out now than when you're out there rationing your last granola bar.

Ever think about how that extra distance changes your water carry too? More miles means more time between refill spots, and a thirsty hike is way worse than a hungry one. It's not just food weight, it's planning your whole day around where the next stream is. That's the real math that gets messed up.

But is it really that big of a deal? People pack way too much food anyway lol. You can always just eat a little less for a day.
