Three nights in the low 30s on the John Muir Trail last August and the 20-degree quilt was warm enough that I sent my backup bag home at Red's Meadow, but now I'm second-guessing whether I should've spent the extra $120 on the 10-degree version for shoulder season trips, so what temp rating do you all actually carry?
What temps are you actually camping in for shoulder season trips? If you're talking low 20s and below then yeah the 10 degree makes sense, but if it's more like 30s you already own the right quilt.
