That paid backlink from a sketchy blog nuked my rankings in 48 hours

Last month I paid $75 for a backlink from some site called 'gadgetreviewz dot net' (looked fine at first). Within two days my organic traffic dropped by 60% and I got a manual action notice in Search Console. Turned out that site was part of a PBN network that got flagged by Google. Has anyone else had a single bad backlink tank their whole site like that?

Man, that's brutal. I've been there with a cheap guest post that looked totally legit until Google slapped a manual action on my site too. It's wild how one bad link can undo months of work.

My buddy Dave from a SEO group had this happen last year with a $50 guest post. He lost almost all his traffic overnight after Google flagged the whole PBN. He spent like three months cleaning up that mess and submitting reconsideration requests. The worst part was that the site looked totally legit at first, even had fake social media profiles. He told me he almost quit SEO over it because nothing he tried would fix it fast. Now he triple checks every site he buys links from using tools like Ahrefs or just avoids paid links altogether.
