That one time a blogger told me guest posting was dead
I was in a Facebook SEO group last year and this guy with 10k followers kept saying guest posts don't work anymore. So I stopped doing them for like 6 months and my backlink profile flatlined. Then I tried reaching out to 3 small blogs in my niche and got 2 links from one email each. Now I get about 15 new referring domains a month from guest posts alone. Has anyone else had a specific piece of advice that hurt more than helped?

My buddy stopped writing comments cause some guru said it was dead. Took him months to rebuild.

Oh, that's frustrating. I had a buddy who fell for the whole "email outreach is dead" nonsense and stopped building relationships entirely for almost a year. It really set him back, and he had to start from scratch again. So yeah, taking absolute advice from someone with a big following is risky business.
